Abiola is a trained lawyer who has received education across various levels and countries. Education was the main enabler for her to transcend from the limitations of her childhood to a successful lawyer. Her main focus in the practice of law has been working in an impact investment bank focused on developing infrastructure across African countries. She is a Governance and Compliance Specialist with around 15 years’ work experience in the legal and financial services industry. Abiola has been a critical member of the Africa Finance Corporation (“AFC”) Compliance and Corporate Governance team for over a decade. Prior to that, she practised as a Barrister for about 2 and a half years. She is passionate about education and currently volunteering as a co-Sourcing Chairman of a Fund set up by some Oxford Alumni focused on helping emerging markets develop certain areas include Education. Also, in her day job, she works with managing the boards, drafting governance standards for her institution and their underlying investment companies. Her core focus is working with firms going through a difficult phase to navigate the climate and come out successfully. In her personal capacity, she also supports varied underprivileged children in school, so that they remain in school. To date, around 10 students have graduated University in their home countries and some are still in high school. She believes that providing education to children especially underprivileged is the strategic enabler to impacting lives. |
